JOIN US -LECTIO DIVINA: This is a way of opening our hearts to reading scripture in the Holy Spirit. It is an ancient practice, commended by St Benedict in his Rule. Lectio, whether in a group or on your own, begins with prayer, and then focuses on a brief passage of scripture. Read it several times, silently or aloud, and just allow yourself to sit with it. Be open to the Holy Spirit and to the Word of God - allowing yourself to be moved by it. Let it resonate with you and think about what it is saying to you. This helps us grow in love of scripture, and is a way of growing into prayer. Meetings are on Wednesdays 11am–12noon : 27th May, 24th June, both in the Parish Centre, 22nd July in The Chapterhouse (all three are major feasts of the English Church).

Dear friends in Christ, What a wonderful week of great events. We had Marvellous May Magic last Saturday which was a spellbinding and enjoyable evening. Fr Dominic has asked to share this message with everyone. ‘I would like to thank all those, especially those on the Fete and Events Committee, who helped make the May Magic Evening such a success. I emailed the founder of Kids for Kids, Patricia Parker, she replied, “An amazing donation £1,050, that is so wonderful.”’ It was great to see so many people attending the May Procession in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary which took place last Wednesday. We had Fr John from St Francis Xavier’s as the preacher and he spoke brilliantly with lots of people commenting afterwards to me on how well he preached. This week, we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord on Thursday, a Holy Day of Obligation when Catholics are obligated to attend Holy Mass. There are three celebrations for the Ascension, Wednesday evening at 7.00pm and on Thursday at 8.00am with the Conventual Mass celebrated by Abbot Brendan at 12.00noon. We are now entering the last few days of Eastertide, when the Church prays for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, nine days after the Ascension. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will come and renew the Church and the world as we prepare for Pentecost. Raffle tickets for the Parish Fete Grand Draw are now available in the Glass Porch. Please take several books to sell to your family and friends!

EMMAUS DISCOVER YOUTH MISSION ARCHDIOCESE OF CARDIFF MENEVIA Why Emmaus? In Luke 24 we see two disciples walking the road to Emmaus, heavy with confusion, dejection and sorrow after Jesus’ crucifixion. They don’t realise it at first, but the risen Christ has walked with them – listening to their concerns, questions, explaining Scripture, and ultimately revealing Himself in the breaking of bread. This unexpected, personal and deeply transformative moment the disciples experienced on the road to Emmaus captures what we desire for every young person: that they know Jesus as the one who walks with them on their life’s journey View more Here
