THE HOLY MASS
The term Mass is derived from the Latin dismissal formula “Ite, missa est” (“Go, it is sent/dismissed”). Theologically, this signifies that the Mass serves as a sending forth: the faithful are commissioned and fortified by grace and Holy Communion, empowered to enter the world and embody the Gospel through both word and action.
Theologically, this underscores the Mass as a commissioning: the faithful are empowered and invigorated by grace and Holy Communion to enter the world and embody the Gospel through both word and action.
